# How to move your number from Comcast Xfinity to Onyx Phone

Xfinity Voice home and business phone lines, and Xfinity Mobile numbers. You need your account number and a security or transfer PIN.

## What you'll need from Comcast Xfinity

- **Account number:** Xfinity Voice: a 16-digit number on your bill and under Account in your Xfinity account. Xfinity Mobile: 9 to 12 digits, under Billing in your Xfinity account.
- **PIN:** Xfinity Voice uses a 4-digit Home Phone Security PIN. Xfinity Mobile uses a 6-digit transfer PIN that's texted to you, valid for 7 days and good for every line on the account.
- **Name and address:** exactly as Comcast Xfinity has them on your account. Copy them from a recent bill.
- **A recent bill:** a PDF or a photo from the last 30 days.

## Get your PIN

1. Xfinity Voice: in your Xfinity account, open Account & Identity, then Service Access, then Home Phone Security PIN. If you never set one, Xfinity can send it by mail, call, or email.
2. Xfinity Mobile: sign in with the primary or manager Xfinity ID, open Devices, choose the phone, then Transfer your number. Enter the one-time code, and the PIN is texted to the number you pick.

## Good to know

- Moving the phone number doesn't cancel your internet or TV, but it can change your bundle price. Ask Xfinity before you start.
- Only the primary account user can get the PIN.
- Keep your Comcast Xfinity service until the move is done, or the number can be lost.

## Then move it to Onyx Phone

1. Start your free trial. You get a temporary local number right away, so you can make and take calls today.
2. Forward your current number to the temporary one if you like (most landlines: dial *72 and the number), so customers reach you here during the move.
3. In Onyx Phone, open Lines, then Begin a port, enter the details above, and attach the bill. Moving a number is free on every plan.
4. Sign the letter of authorization we email you. Nothing starts until it's signed.
5. The carriers confirm a date, usually 3 to 7 business days after you sign. On port day your number replaces the temporary one, and calls you place show it.
6. The temporary number keeps ringing your line for 30 more days, so anyone you gave it to still gets through, then it's released.

Texting registration doesn't come with the number. US carriers approve each business that texts, so register in Onyx Phone when you start the move; approval usually takes one to two weeks, and calling works meanwhile.
