# How to move your number from Google Voice for Google Workspace to Onyx Phone

Business Google Voice numbers managed in the Google Admin console. A Workspace admin gets the port-out PIN.

## What you'll need from Google Voice for Google Workspace

- **Account number:** Usually your Google Voice number (10 to 12 digits), shown in the Admin console under Apps, Google Workspace, Google Voice.
- **PIN:** A port-out PIN of 4 to 10 digits, valid for 7 days.
- **Name and address:** exactly as Google Voice for Google Workspace has them on your account. Copy them from a recent bill.
- **A recent bill:** a PDF or a photo from the last 30 days.

## Get your PIN

1. In the Google Admin console, open Apps, then Google Workspace, then Google Voice.
2. Open Number porting, then Port-out info, and view or set the PIN.

## Good to know

- You need a Workspace admin role that can manage Google Voice; otherwise ask your super admin.
- Several numbers from one account can move in one request.
- Export voicemail transcripts and anything you need first: they stop when the number leaves.
- Keep your Google Voice for Google Workspace service until the move is done, or the number can be lost.

## Then move it to Onyx Phone

1. Start your free trial. You get a temporary local number right away, so you can make and take calls today.
2. Forward your current number to the temporary one if you like (most landlines: dial *72 and the number), so customers reach you here during the move.
3. In Onyx Phone, open Lines, then Begin a port, enter the details above, and attach the bill. Moving a number is free on every plan.
4. Sign the letter of authorization we email you. Nothing starts until it's signed.
5. The carriers confirm a date, usually 3 to 7 business days after you sign. On port day your number replaces the temporary one, and calls you place show it.
6. The temporary number keeps ringing your line for 30 more days, so anyone you gave it to still gets through, then it's released.

Texting registration doesn't come with the number. US carriers approve each business that texts, so register in Onyx Phone when you start the move; approval usually takes one to two weeks, and calling works meanwhile.
