Features / Browser calling

Your business phone, in a browser tab

Sign in, allow the microphone once, and your business line rings in the browser on any page of Onyx Phone. Nothing to install, and it works on the computer you already use at the front desk.

Answering in the browser

Any open tab rings for every line set to ring the browser, with a classic landline ring and answer and decline buttons. If the connection drops, it reconnects on its own; if it can't, the keypad offers Try again. Closing the tab unregisters it, so the line isn't left looking busy.

Calling out

The keypad calls from any line you're assigned to, and the person you call sees that line's business number. Call back from a missed call, a voicemail, or a text conversation in one click. US numbers get the +1 added for you; international numbers work with a + and the country code.

On the call

Use it with the apps and desk phones

The browser is one of three places a line can ring, with the iPhone and Android apps and desk phones. Tick any mix, and everything ticked rings at once. One login works everywhere.

Getting started

  1. Create a login and pick a plan. Checkout saves a card for the 7-day free trial, and nothing is charged until it ends.
  2. Confirm your business and its 911 address, and get a local number on the spot. Bringing your own number? You answer on a temporary one while it moves over, for free.
  3. Choose where calls ring, write what callers hear, invite your team, and register for texting. Then answer in the browser, the iPhone and Android apps, or a desk phone. How it works has the details.

Included on every plan

Starter is $17, Business is $29, Scale is $42 per user a month, or less billed yearly. The plan includes a business number for each user and unlimited calling and texting in the US and Canada. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and moving your current number over is free.

Questions

Do I need to install anything to answer calls on my computer?

No. Use a current browser, allow the microphone once, and keep Onyx Phone open in a tab.

Can I use a headset?

Yes. The browser uses whichever microphone and speaker your computer is set to, including USB and Bluetooth headsets.

What if I close the tab?

That browser stops ringing until you open Onyx Phone again. The phone app and desk phones keep ringing if the line uses them.
