What the desk does

Onyx Phone is the place you answer a business line. It is not a CRM, and it is not a texting product yet.

On today

Home

Today’s calls, unread voicemails, and whether this browser can ring. One line at a time. Switch lines from the top of the desk.

Calls

The call log and the voicemail inbox are the same list. Filter to voicemails when you want the ones with a recording. Play it, download it, and save notes.

Keypad

Call from a line you are assigned to. The caller ID is that line’s number. Answer a new call by holding the current one.

Lines and team

Account admins see the lines on the account and can add one while the plan is active. Teammates see only the lines you assign. The same login opens the website and the phone app.

How a call rings

Choose the browser and the phone app, or also ring a phone number you enter. The first person to answer takes the call. You can play a short greeting first.

Robocall screen

Optional. Callers hear “Press 1 to speak with someone.” If nobody presses a key within 5 seconds, the call goes to voicemail and your phone does not ring.

Voicemail email

Save an address on the line and a new voicemail can be emailed there, recording attached, when mail delivery is configured for the site.

Light and dark

The website, the iPhone app, and the Android app each remember their own theme on that device. Dark is the default. The choice is not stored on your user account.

US texting

The Messages screen is in the desk. Sending and receiving US SMS waits on A2P 10DLC. Read the texting page.

Porting in the app

The number from signup is new. Already advertise a number? Every plan includes porting it over. Request a port-in and we start it with you. Guided porting inside the app is on the roadmap.
