Features / Call transfer

Hand a call to the right person

Whoever answers isn't always the person who can help. On Business and up, Onyx Phone transfers a call to a teammate or a ring group in a couple of taps, from the browser or the phone app, and you choose whether to hang up or stay on to introduce the caller.

Two ways to transfer

Transfers are made from the call controls in the browser and in the Android and iPhone apps, on any call you've answered.

Transfer to a person or a group

The transfer list shows teammates on the same line and your ring groups. Send a quote request to Estimators and every estimator's devices ring at once, so the first one free takes it. A teammate only appears if they're on the line, so calls never go to someone who can't see that business.

After the transfer

The call stays in the line's history, so anyone can see it came in and where it went. If the line records calls, the recording and summary cover the conversation, and notes on the call stay with it.

Getting started

  1. Create a login and pick a plan. Checkout saves a card for the 7-day free trial, and nothing is charged until it ends.
  2. Confirm your business and its 911 address, and get a local number on the spot. Bringing your own number? You answer on a temporary one while it moves over, for free.
  3. Choose where calls ring, write what callers hear, invite your team, and register for texting. Then answer in the browser, the iPhone and Android apps, or a desk phone. How it works has the details.

Included on Business and Scale

Starter is $17, Business is $29, Scale is $42 per user a month, or less billed yearly. The plan includes a business number for each user and unlimited calling and texting in the US and Canada. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and moving your current number over is free.

Questions

What's the difference between a warm and a blind transfer?

A blind transfer hands the call over without speaking to the person first. A warm transfer lets you talk to them before you drop off. Onyx Phone does both.

Can I transfer a call from my phone?

Yes. The Android and iPhone apps can transfer a call you've answered, the same way the browser does.

Which plan includes call transfers?

Business and Scale, at $29 and $42 per user a month.
