Effective October 6, 2026. These terms cover the Onyx Phone service on this website. Have a lawyer read them before you treat them as your only legal agreement.

The service

Onyx Phone gives an account business numbers, a browser desk, and a phone app sign-in. You get the features listed on the pricing page for the plan you buy. Items listed as on the roadmap, and features listed as off — US texting and ringing a locked iPhone — are not part of the subscription until those pages say they are on.

The plan

Desk is $29 per month in USD for one line, billed through Stripe. Shop ($79) and Enterprise ($249) are agreed with us before they start, and Custom is quoted. The payment page shows the amount before you pay.

Included usage and add-ons

Each plan includes the lines, port-ins, call minutes, voicemail transcripts, and simultaneous calls shown on the pricing page. Usage past those amounts, and extra lines and port-ins, are charged at the rates on the pricing page. We may move an account with very heavy usage to a Custom plan.

The number

The number from signup is a new US local number. It is not a port of a number you already own. Each plan includes porting in a set number of your existing numbers, and a port is a separate request that you start through us. A port depends on your current carrier approving it. Until a port completes, your existing line stays with that carrier, and we cannot make a carrier approve or speed up a transfer. We do not move your number to another phone system as part of this service.

Texting

US text messaging is not included. It waits on A2P 10DLC approval. Do not rely on this subscription for SMS.

Your login and your team

You are responsible for the people you invite and the lines you assign them. They can see the calls on those lines. Use a password you do not reuse, and remove a teammate who should no longer have access.

Recordings

Voicemail is recorded when a caller leaves a message. Outbound keypad calls are recorded from answer. Some states require you to tell the other person. That notice is your responsibility.

When payment stops

If the subscription is canceled or a payment fails, outbound calling pauses. The number and the call history are not deleted for that reason. Inbound behavior follows the line setup that is already in place. Stripe sends its own receipts. This site does not yet send a separate billing email.

Acceptable use

Do not use the line for unlawful calls, for spam, or to harass anyone. We can suspend calling on a line that is being used that way.

The apps

The Android and iPhone apps are not offered through the public stores as part of these terms. Android ringing depends on a push credential for that line. Locked-iPhone ringing is not part of the service yet.

Liability

Phone networks fail, browsers sleep, and a missed call can cost a job. The service is provided as it runs today. To the extent the law allows, liability for the service is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the month the problem happened. That limit does not apply where the law forbids it.
