Sound like a business from the first ring
Write what callers hear, pick a voice, and choose what plays while they wait. Onyx Phone records each message once in the voice you chose, so every caller hears the same clear greeting, with no recording booth needed.
Twelve voices
Choose a standard voice or one of eleven natural AI voices: Coral, Nova, Sage, Shimmer, Alloy, Ash, Echo, Onyx, Ballad, Verse, and Fable. Press Play to hear each before you choose. The same voice speaks your greeting, voicemail greeting, robocall screen, after-hours message, and phone menu.
Each message is recorded once and replayed on every call, so the very first caller hears the finished audio. Change words or voices up to 50 times per line a month; switching back to something you used before doesn't count. Callers must be told when an AI voice is used, and the settings page reminds you.
What callers can hear
- A greeting, played before the call rings.

- An after-hours message outside business hours.
Ringing and hold
Pick what callers hear while the line rings, and on hold, separately. While it rings, callers can hear regular phone ringing, like any other business, or music; new lines start with ringing. On hold, play music or nothing at all. Six tracks are free: Classical, Ambient, Electronica, Guitars, Rock, and Soft rock. Or upload your own MP3 or WAV and confirm you have the right to use it.

Starter is $17, Business is $29, Scale is $42 per user a month, or less billed yearly. The plan includes a business number for each user and unlimited calling and texting in the US and Canada. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and moving your current number over is free.

Can I use my own hold music?
Yes. Upload an MP3 or WAV you have the rights to, for ringing, hold, or both.
