How to move your number from Comcast Business
Comcast Business Voice lines, including the voice line in a Business Starter bundle. You need the 16-digit account number and the business name exactly as Comcast has it.
What you'll need from Comcast Business
- Account number
- 16 digits, at the top of every Comcast Business invoice and under Account Details in your account at business.comcast.com/myaccount.
- PIN
- My Account doesn't show a port-out PIN for Business Voice lines, and the move usually goes through on the account number, business name, and service address. If Comcast turns the move down for a PIN, call Comcast Business and ask for one.
- Name and address
- Exactly as Comcast Business has them on your account. Copy them from a recent bill.
- A recent bill
- A PDF or a photo from the last 30 days.
Get your account number and PIN
- Sign in at business.comcast.com/myaccount and open Account Details. Copy the Business Name, not the Account Name: the Account Name is a nickname, and the move must match the Business Name on your invoice.
- Copy the account number and the service address from the same page, and download your latest invoice to attach.
- Leave the PIN blank unless Comcast gives you one. To check first, call Comcast Business at 800-391-3000 and ask whether your line needs a port-out PIN.
Good to know
- A Business Starter bundle includes the voice line with your internet. Moving the number can change your internet price, so ask Comcast before you start.
- Keep your Comcast Business service until the move is done, or the number can be lost.
Then move it to Onyx Phone
- Start your free trial. You get a temporary local number right away, so you can make and take calls today.
- Forward your current number to the temporary one if you like (most landlines: dial *72 and the number), so customers reach you here during the move.
- In Onyx Phone, open Lines, then Begin a port, enter the details above, and attach the bill. Moving a number is free on every plan.
- Sign the letter of authorization we email you. Nothing starts until it's signed.
- The carriers confirm a date, usually 3 to 7 business days after you sign. On port day your number replaces the temporary one, and calls you place show it.
- The temporary number keeps ringing your line for 30 more days, so anyone you gave it to still gets through, then it's released.
Texting registration doesn't come with the number. US carriers approve each business that texts, so register in Onyx Phone when you start the move; approval usually takes one to two weeks, and calling works meanwhile.
