Keep Onyx Phone calls ringing on Motorola phones

The Motorola settings that keep Onyx Phone ringing: Unrestricted app battery usage and keeping the app active when it's unused.

Motorola's settings are close to Google's. Two of them make sure Onyx Phone always wakes for a call. For moto g, moto edge and razr phones with Android 13 or later.

1. Unrestricted battery usage

Optimized, the default, can delay a call while the phone sits idle.

  1. Open Settings, then Apps, then See all apps, then Onyx Phone.
  2. Tap App battery usage. Turn on Allow background usage if you see it, then choose Unrestricted.

2. Keep it active when unused

If Onyx Phone goes unopened for a few months, Android pauses it and takes back its permissions.

  1. On the same Onyx Phone page in Settings, turn off Pause app activity if unused.

3. Full-screen calls

Lets a call fill the screen when the phone is locked or you're using another app, like a regular call.

  1. Open Onyx Phone. On the Calls tab, tap Allow on Show incoming calls full screen, and turn on what it opens.

Calls ring on mobile data but not on one Wi-Fi network

Calls reach the app through Google's push service, over one connection your phone keeps open for every app. Some Wi-Fi routers and office firewalls close a connection that has been quiet for a few minutes, and until the phone notices, a call can't reach it. Onyx Phone keeps that connection busy and sends a call again when your phone doesn't start ringing, which covers most networks.

Check that it works

Leave the phone locked and untouched for 15 minutes, then have someone call your business number. It should wake the screen and ring. The Android setup guide covers the microphone, notifications, and the rest.

Try Onyx Phone free

Phone makers move settings around. If a step doesn't match your phone, search Settings for "battery" and pick the choice that lets Onyx Phone run without restrictions.
