How to set your alert hours so business calls ring only when you're working
Alert hours keep your phone quiet when you're off. Outside your hours, business calls don't ring you and texts and voicemails arrive without a sound, while teammates who are working still get them. This guide shows you how to set your weekly hours, give a line its own hours, set a teammate's hours as an admin, and change your hours from the phone app.
Step 1. Open your alert hours on the web
- Step 1.a Click your initials at the top right of the screen, then click My account.
- Step 1.b Click the Alert hours tile. My profile opens at your alert hours.
Step 2. Set your weekly hours
- Step 2.a Tick Only alert me during these hours. Leave it clear to be alerted at any hour.
- Step 2.b Choose your Time zone.
- Step 2.c For each day, tick the day if you work it, and set the time you start and the time you stop. Clear a day to stay quiet all day.
- Step 2.d Under By line, choose for each line Use my hours, Custom hours for this line (then set that line's own days and times), or Alert me at any hour.
- Step 2.e Click Save alert hours.
Step 3. Set a teammate's alert hours (admins)
- Step 3.a Click your initials, then Team. Click Edit next to the teammate.
- Step 3.b Under Alert hours, click Alert hours.
- Step 3.c Set Their hours and By line the same way, then click Save alert hours.
Step 4. Set your alert hours in the phone app iPhone and Android
- Step 4.a Tap the ⋮ Settings button at the top right of the app, then tap Alert hours.
- Step 4.b Tap Only alert me during these hours to turn your hours on.
- Step 4.c Choose your Time zone, then tap each day to turn it on or off, and tap its start and end times to change them.
- Step 4.d Under By line, choose how each line follows your hours.
- Step 4.e Tap Save alert hours. The change applies on the website and your other devices too.
Questions and answers
What happens to calls outside my alert hours?
They don't ring your browser, phone app, or desk phone. They still ring teammates who are inside their hours. If nobody on the line is available, the caller goes to voicemail.
Do I still get texts and voicemails after hours?
Yes, they still arrive in the app and on the website. You just aren't alerted with a sound or notification until your hours start.
How are alert hours different from business hours?
Business hours are set by an admin for a whole line and send every caller to voicemail when the business is closed. Alert hours are yours alone and decide when you are alerted. Both apply. See Business hours.
Can I work different hours on different lines?
Yes. Under By line, choose Custom hours for this line and set that line's own days and times, or Alert me at any hour for a line you always cover.
Can an admin change my alert hours?
Yes. Admins can set any teammate's alert hours from Team, for example to cover a shift.
